FAQs

What is the mission statement of the Animal Welfare Investigations Project?

Our mission is to investigate organised animal cruelty, prosecute animal abusers, and rescue animals.

Is AWIP a charity? If not, why not?

No, AWIP (Animal Welfare Investigations Project) is a non-profit organisation and a registered company in the United Kingdom. Our company number is 13760374.

The primary reason for our company status is to allow us the flexibility to address and campaign against organised animal cruelty without the restrictions that apply to charities. AWIP is dedicated to investigating the illegal puppy trade, animal fighting, and wildlife crime, and we believe it’s essential to operate without limitations on the scope of our investigations.

As a non-profit organisation, we can prioritise our mission, maintain our independence, and pursue justice for animals effectively, without the constraints placed on charities by regulatory bodies.

How do you work with the police?

When our investigations reveal animals in immediate danger, we coordinate with the police and other organisations to carry out rescue operations. We also share information with police on individuals suspected of involvement in organised animal cruelty.

How are your investigations funded?

Our investigations are funded through membership subscriptions, lottery, legacies, and crowdfunding. We rely on this support to continue our work and expand our efforts to combat animal cruelty.

Do you work internationally or just within a specific country?

We operate internationally, focusing our efforts on regions where organised animal cruelty is most prevalent and where we can make the most significant impact.

Can I send a cheque to AWIP?

Yes. We accept one-off donations by cheque – simply make your cheque payable to “AWIP” and send to Animal Welfare Investigations Project, Redwood House, Almondsbury Business Park, Bristol, BS32 4QW. Please write the name on the appeal on the back of the cheque.

How do I remove myself from your mailing list?

It’s simple. Email membership@awip.org.uk and we will ensure that you are removed from our mailing lists.
