1. Agreement to Terms
By using our website to make a donation, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms are only available in English. No other languages will apply to these Terms.
2. Donation Processing
- We accept donations via:
- Direct Debit,
- Credit/debit cards,
- Apple Pay,
- Google Pay.
- Cheques and bank transfers are also accepted; details for these payment methods are available upon request.
- For donations through our website, we are unable to accept cash. While we can accept cash via postal mail, we strongly advise against sending cash through the post.
- Credit and debit card transactions are routed through Stripe (or any other payment service provider we may use from time to time), which complies with the relevant payment processing requirements.
- By confirming that you wish to proceed with your donation, you authorise Stripe (or the relevant payment service provider) to request funds from your payment method.
3. Membership
- Membership in AWIP refers solely to participation in our regular giving community and does not confer voting rights, governance roles, or any legal or operational influence over the organisation.
- Membership does not imply any special privileges, rights, or obligations beyond supporting AWIP’s work financially.
- Membership is simply the name we use to refer to our regular giving community. It reflects your ongoing commitment to AWIP’s mission but does not infer any special status or privileges.
4. No Tangible Benefits
- Donations made to AWIP, including through membership, do not provide any tangible benefits to donors in exchange for their contributions, ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines.
- Any token incentives provided are purely gestures of appreciation and do not reflect a tangible exchange for donations. Examples may include low-value items such as stickers or pin badges.
5. Use of Funds
- All donations are treated as unrestricted funds and will be used at our discretion to support our organisational objectives.
- Donations are spent globally, wherever the need is greatest, to help animals in need.
6. Acknowledgement of Donations
- If we have successfully received your donation, we will send you an email acknowledging receipt.
- If you do not receive this email, please contact us at membership@awip.org.uk as soon as possible.
7. Liability
- In the absence of negligence on our part, any failure by us to comply with these Terms, or breach by us of our duties under applicable laws, we are not legally responsible for any loss you may suffer if a third party gains unauthorised access to information you provide when making a donation.
- Except for legal responsibilities we cannot exclude in law (e.g., death, personal injury, or obligations under applicable data protection laws), we are not liable for:
- Loss of profit,
- Loss of business,
- Business interruption,
- Loss of business opportunity.
8. Recurring Donations (also known as Membership)
- By setting up a recurring donation, also referred to as membership, you agree to donate a set amount on the same day each month until cancellation.
- Membership in AWIP refers solely to participation in our regular giving community and does not confer voting rights, governance roles, or any legal or operational influence over the organisation.
- Membership does not imply any special privileges, rights, or obligations beyond supporting AWIP’s work financially.
- Recurring donations will be processed automatically each month unless:
- A payment card expires, or
- A payment fails to be processed.

9. Refunds
- All donations are non-refundable unless one of the following circumstances exists:
- The donation is from illegal sources.
- The donor lacked capacity to make the donation.
- The donation cannot legally be given (e.g., where the donor does not own the funds).
- The donation requires a return in certain circumstances, and these circumstances have been met.

10. Data Protection
- Your personal information is handled in compliance with applicable data protection laws and in line with our privacy policy, which can be found on our website.
11. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
- The company name is Animal Welfare Investigations Project Limited, and our country of domicile is the United Kingdom.
- We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice at all times.
