Exposed: Who is Dominic Wightman?

This article is published by Animal Welfare Investigations Project Limited (AWIP), which believes that sharing information about individuals who are suspected to pose a security risk to animal welfare organisations serves the public interest. In this article, we explore the many lives of Dominic Wightman of Lazarus Corp and Country Squire Magazine.

Dominic Wightman, the so-called editor of Country Squire Magazine, was previously sued by Mr. Chris Packham for defamatory comments. In May 2023, that case came before the High Court in London. The Judge found in favour of Mr Packham. The court awarded Chris Packham £90,000 in damages from Mr. Wightman and Mr. Bean.

Mr. Wightman is the Chair of Lazarus Corp. He works in the mining sector, allegedly causing environmental destruction throughout developing countries. He has run several companies throughout his time, many of which are believed to have failed. According to online sources, Mr. Wightman is infamous for leaving a trail of bad debts, is a serial shyster, and con artist. He has previously been bankrupt, which noted he was “not working” or otherwise known as unemployed. Allegedly, he is referred to by previous colleagues and friends as “Dodgy Dom”.

If you knew the history of Mr. Wightman, you may come to know that he is a man of many professions: rugby, modelling, advertising agencies in the USA, and online publications. He has also founded an anti-extremism network but, like his businesses, that seems to have failed too.

During the time of running an anti-extremism network, he partnered with Glen Jenvey, who was a member of the far-right British National Party. Like Mr. Wightman, it would appear that Mr. Jenvey is not a stranger to fabricating the truth.

It would appear that Dominic Wightman has not departed from associating with far-right extremism. These days, Mr. Wightman engages discredited freelance journalists like Andrew Ben O’Rourke who seems to have a user account on Rumble, a video platform which is popular among far-right extremists.

Dominic Wightman is a Trustee of I Have a Name (UK Charity Number: 1182358) and Devon Heritage Trust (UK Charity Number: 1184206). The Devon Heritage Trust was previously known as Torbay Coastal Heritage Trust.

Is Dominic Wightman a journalist?

Dominic Wightman is a discredited, self-styled journalist. He does not work for a reputable media outlet. Instead, he appears to specialise in smear campaigns against those who protect animals and the environment through his website, Country Squire Magazine.

We have been made aware that Mr. Wightman has also been subject to police investigations due to his smear campaigns. In addition, he was successfully sued by Chris Packham.
